Eight Wheeled Electric Limousine

Eight wheeled limousines are not a new pheneomonon, there is already an eight wheeled Hummer out there waiting for you to start up a big night out, and neither are we surprised to see a limousine which runs on electricity, at least one which runs partly on electricity as do the myriad of hybrid luxury cars out there now.

However, as only the Japanese can, they have designed, and worked with the Italians to build, an eight wheeled electric limousine and it’s called the KAZ. The name stands for Keio Advanced Zero-Emission Vehicle and while it is just a prototype, the KAZ seems to have worked through one of the most common problems faced by limousines which are on the larger side – handling.

The eight wheeled electric KAZ limousine is said to handle just like a sports car and it is actually the extra wheels which help with this control. It is also the computer controlled drive train and the low centre of gravity which help the KAZ breeze around corners. The extra wheels of this limousine also make for a smoother ride as the ‘tail squat’ which comes with acceleration from stopped, and the ‘nose diving’ which occurs when braking, are gone, ensuring the complete limousine experience from, well, nose to tail.

Other electric limousines have also had to rely on a second fuel to keep them going and ensure there is enough power to support the wheels and the engine. The KAZ however, eight individual motors with the maximum output of each motor connected straight to each wheel. In case of the need for a quick getaway from a party or a stag night gone bad, the KAZ can also accelerate to 311 k/h in quiet, smooth eight passenger comfort.
